Ahmedabad, Nov 3 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Rajkot police have made substantial progress in the gunfire incident that unfolded outside a local hospital. The Special Operations Group (SOG) has detained two additional suspects allegedly involved in the violent clash tied to the ongoing feud between the Penda and Murga gangs.
The detained individuals have been identified as Kamlesh and Bharat Dabhi.
The pair was apprehended in Samadhiyala village, located in Babra within the Amreli district, where they had been evading capture since the incident. Authorities are now working to secure their remand for deeper investigation.
Investigations reveal that three distinct firearms were involved in the shootout, which transpired just past midnight on October 29 near Mangla Main Road, when members of the rival factions exchanged gunfire, resulting in one injury.
Despite the violence, neither gang filed a formal complaint, prompting police to initiate an FIR suo motu against 11 individuals from both factions. At the scene, six spent cartridges and one live round were discovered.
Following a CCTV-led investigation, police previously arrested seven suspects, including Harshdeep alias Metiyo Zala, Jaivik alias Montu Rojasara, Jignesh alias Bhaylu Gadhvi, Himmat alias Kalu Langa Gadhvi, Lakirajsinh Zala, Manishdan Gadhvi, and Parimal alias Pariyo Solanki.
Additionally, authorities confiscated two homemade pistols, three cartridges, and a vehicle valued over Rs 3.75 lakh. Initial findings indicate that the gang conflict was ignited over a woman allegedly associated with a member of the Murga gang. This rivalry has been escalating for nearly ten months, with several retaliatory shootings recorded in January, February, and August of this year.
The recent arrests have raised the total number of suspects apprehended in the Rajkot firing case to nine, as police persist in a statewide search for the remaining culprits. Officials emphasized their commitment to dismantling both gangs and restoring tranquility to Rajkot.
