Bengaluru, Feb 11 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday astonished the political sphere by praising Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is often known for his critiques of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP-led central government.
During his inaugural address, while quoting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Defence Minister Singh emphasized, "The unity, integrity and progress of our country must always remain our highest priority."
“Although we belong to different political factions and are opponents, Siddaramaiah’s generous invitation to me signifies his political acumen. It opens the door for collaboration, emphasizing the fraternity that unites us,” Singh remarked.
He elaborated, “His invitation and thoughtful acceptance demonstrate that, despite our political differences, we stand united in pursuit of national interests.”
Rajnath further observed, “Upon my arrival in Bengaluru on Saturday, I learned about Siddaramaiah’s injury. It is heartening to see him present. In politics, maintaining your footing is crucial; one must be vigilant as there are obstacles everywhere. Siddaramaiah is an experienced politician, adeptly maneuvering through challenges. I am confident he will recover swiftly, and I wish him a rapid recovery.”
The Defence Minister noted that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi served as Chief Minister of Gujarat, he initiated the tradition of hosting investors’ summits.
“Today, this initiative has been adopted by nearly every state in India, fostering positive economic growth. Previously, investors faced numerous obstacles, with red tape being one of the most significant barriers. However, times have evolved; India now rolls out the red carpet for investors instead,” he stated.
He mentioned that such bipartisan consensus on encouraging investment is vital in alleviating uncertainty for investors.
“As I extend an invitation to all of you to invest in Karnataka, one of the strongest value propositions is Bengaluru. As India’s technological hub, Bengaluru is not only shaping the future of the nation but also disseminating its innovations on both national and global stages,” he asserted.
He emphasized that whether it is the central or state government, everyone plays a crucial role in the Indian state.
“Our foundation is anchored in constitutional values. These principles remind us that, despite our varying political ideologies, we must unite for the development and progress of our nation,” he stated.
“I would like to recall the words of the late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who once said that governments will come and go; parties will form and dissolve; but this country must endure. His words serve as a timeless reminder that above all political differences, the unity, integrity, and progress of our nation must always be our utmost priority,” he remarked.
The Defence Minister added that the constitutional values of India are deeply embedded in its rich history of political tolerance and acceptance of dissent.
“Our history showcases numerous instances where even amidst conflict, battles were fought honorably, adhering to established warfare principles. More importantly, defeated rulers were often treated with dignity and respect, with their kingdoms frequently restored to them.”
“In India, political rivalry was historically rarely treated as a matter of life and death. It was primarily governed by ethics, mutual respect, and a profound sense of justice,” underscored Rajnath Singh.
