New Delhi, April 26 (NationPress) Mumbai Police reported on Saturday that Tahawwur Rana, a principal conspirator of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is not cooperating with investigators and is offering evasive responses.

The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has been interrogating Rana regarding the terror attack that resulted in the deaths of over 166 individuals.

An official from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) noted that a team from the Mumbai Police Crime Branch visited its Delhi office, where Rana is currently detained.

Mumbai Police questioned Rana for approximately eight hours.

The NIA is probing Rana to uncover details about the extensive groundwork and planning that took place over three years by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan to carry out the Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008.

Rana is being interrogated about individuals mentioned in intercepted communications between the terrorists, their handlers, and certain ISI officials, as well as Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HuJI) operatives like Abdur Rehman Hashim Syed, Sajjid Majid, Illyas Kashmiri, and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

It is noteworthy that Rana, a former Pakistan Army Medical Corps officer, has stated he cannot recall matters related to the 17-year-old attack.

Rana faces accusations of conspiring with David Coleman Headley and members of designated terrorist organizations like the LeT and HuJI, along with other co-conspirators based in Pakistan, to execute the catastrophic terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008.

At 64 years old, Rana, a Canadian national originally from Pakistan, was living in Chicago before being extradited to India and arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on a special flight from Los Angeles.

On April 11, Rana was arrested by the NIA and placed in custody for 18 days.

His extradition and arrest are seen as a significant advancement in India’s ongoing efforts to ensure accountability for all individuals involved in the planning and execution of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
