New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) A senior interrogation unit from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to question Tahawwur Rana, the primary suspect in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, shortly after his arrival in India, sources revealed on Thursday.

The interrogation team will consist of two Inspector Generals (IG), one Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and one Superintendent of Police (SP). Additionally, officials from the Intelligence Agency will also be involved in the questioning.

Given the sensitive nature of the case, the Delhi Police's elite SWAT unit has been deployed to facilitate the secure movement of the NIA officials.

Furthermore, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police has been placed on high alert, with SWAT commandos positioned at the airport to oversee security.

As part of the comprehensive security measures, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and local police teams have been assigned the task of maintaining the perimeter security.

Sources have confirmed that all requisite precautions have been established to ensure the safe transit and custody of this high-profile terror suspect. Security protocols have also been intensified at the NIA headquarters in the capital.

The 64-year-old Pakistani-born Canadian national is being extradited from the US following a lengthy legal battle. A special chartered flight departed from the US on April 9 and is anticipated to arrive in Delhi imminently. Upon arrival, Rana will be officially arrested by the NIA and is likely to be presented in a Delhi court shortly thereafter.

According to sources, Rana is expected to be detained in a high-security section of Tihar Jail. Authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure his secure confinement within the prison.

Rana, a close associate of David Coleman Headley, alias Dawood Gilani—the chief conspirator behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks—faces several charges under the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy, waging war against the Government of India, murder, and forgery, as well as charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Despite these advances, Mumbai Police have yet to receive formal notification regarding his transfer to the city for trial proceedings. Rana is also suspected of maintaining close connections with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the outlawed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which orchestrated the attacks that resulted in 166 fatalities.

The extradition operation has been coordinated jointly between the NIA and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), representing a pivotal step in India's ongoing efforts to hold accountable those responsible for the 26/11 attacks.
