RCB, under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, triumphed over the Punjab Kings led by Shreyas Iyer by six runs to claim their first-ever IPL trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. This victory marked RCB as the fourth distinct team to secure the IPL title in the last four seasons.
Virat Kohli was the standout performer, scoring 43 runs from 35 balls as RCB set a formidable total of 190/9. In the bowling department, RCB's exceptional bowlers, spearheaded by Player of the Match Krunal Pandya with figures of 2-17 in four overs, limited Punjab Kings to 184/7, thus ensuring that Kohli and the franchise finally became IPL champions.
Plans for an open bus victory parade by the IPL 2025 champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have been scrapped, as announced by the Bengaluru Traffic Police on Wednesday.
Initially, the franchise had scheduled the open-top bus parade to commence at 5 p.m. from Vidhana Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the team's home ground, where a celebratory event was set to take place at 6 p.m.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara indicated on Wednesday that, for security reasons, players will not use an open vehicle for their journey to the stadium. The KSCA will oversee a ceremony at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and appropriate police security and traffic management measures have been implemented to prevent congestion.
Detailing the felicitation ceremony by the government at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha, Parameshwara added, “All players will arrive by bus at Vidhana Soudha. After the event, they will return to Chinnaswamy Stadium by bus. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will extend their congratulations. Two RCB team members will address the gathering.”
Parameshwara further clarified that no additional events are planned beyond this.
