Rijiju Emphasizes Unity Following PM Modi's 'Chadar' Presentation at Ajmer Dargah

Jaipur, Jan 4 (NationPress) The ceremonial ‘chadar’ from Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented at the Ajmer Dargah shrine on Saturday. Union Minister for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, personally carried the chadar to the dargah, making a special trip to Ajmer for the occasion.
During the event, he also conveyed PM Modi's message.
At Jaipur airport, Rijiju remarked, “Presenting the chadar on behalf of PM Modi symbolizes offering it on behalf of the entire nation. Our goal is to promote a harmonious atmosphere across the country. Millions visit this dargah, often encountering difficulties, which is why we are launching new initiatives.”
To tackle these challenges, Rijiju introduced the 'Gareeb Nawaz' app along with a specialized web portal for the dargah. “These resources will offer detailed information about the facilities available and other pertinent details for pilgrims,” he stated.
Furthermore, officials revealed that Rijiju will also unveil an operational manual for the Urs celebrations.
The Urs was officially announced on January 1 by Shahar Qazi Maulana Tauseef Ahmed Siddiqui and committee members, marked by the traditional cannon fire from the hill of Bade Peer Saheb.
On January 2, chadars were also presented on behalf of Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Muslim Rashtriya Manch patron Indresh Kumar, and various representatives from Bollywood.
The Prime Minister's gesture and Rijiju's attendance highlight the significance of the Ajmer Dargah as a unifying emblem within India's diverse cultural and religious framework, according to officials from the dargah.
Last year, the chadar was presented by former Union Minister Smriti Irani alongside a delegation from the Muslim community.
The Ajmer Sharif Dargah remains one of India's most revered Sufi shrines, drawing pilgrims from around the globe. This year's festivities, commemorating the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, aim to honor the Sufi saint's legacy while providing a more streamlined experience for participants through modern digital solutions.
