PM Modi Sends Ceremonial Chadar to Ajmer Sharif; Kiren Rijiju to Present It Today

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The ceremonial chadar dispatched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be presented at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah for the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, the esteemed Sufi saint, is set to arrive at the shrine on Saturday. Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju will offer the chadar during a ceremony scheduled for 11 am.

Prior to the Ajmer event, Kiren Rijiju visited the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia in New Delhi on Friday to pay his respects.

Minister Kiren Rijiju will land at Jaipur airport on Saturday morning and proceed to Ajmer via road for the occasion. In addition to presenting the chadar, he plans to unveil the official web portal of the Dargah Sharif and a new mobile application, 'Gareeb Nawaz', aimed at enhancing convenience for devotees and improving coordination throughout the Urs festivities.

The Urs of Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz draws millions of devotees from around the world each year, commemorating the saint's death anniversary.

Presenting the chadar at the Mazar-e-Akhdas is considered a significant act of worship, symbolizing devotion and bestowing blessings upon those who participate.

This marks the 11th consecutive year that Prime Minister Modi has offered a chadar at the shrine since taking office in 2014. Last year, the chadar was delivered by former Union Minister Smriti Irani along with a delegation from the Muslim community.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted on X on Thursday, "PM Narendra Modi presented the Chadar that will be offered on his behalf at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah during the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti."

Syed Naseruddin Chishti, the successor to the Ajmer Dargah chief and Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, welcomed this gesture and underscored the Prime Minister's dedication to the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Samman (solidarity, development, trust, and respect for all).

"This tradition, established in 1947, has been maintained by every Prime Minister of India," Chishti stated.

"Since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently offered a chadar as a sign of devotion and respect. This demonstrates India's profound culture of honoring all religions, communities, and Sufi saints," he conveyed to IANS.

The Ajmer Sharif Dargah is one of India's most important Sufi shrines, attracting pilgrims from all over the globe.

This year's celebrations marking the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti are designed to honor the legacy of the Sufi saint while ensuring a more streamlined experience for attendees through the adoption of modern digital platforms.
