Successor to Ajmer Dargah Chief Receives PM Modi's 'Chadar', Highlights Message of 'Sabka Samman'

Ajmer, Jan 2 (NationPress) In a significant gesture representing unity and respect for all communities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has upheld the tradition of sending a ceremonial 'chadar' to the esteemed Ajmer Sharif Dargah during the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Syed Naseruddin Chishti, the successor to the Ajmer Dargah chief and Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, expressed his appreciation for this gesture and emphasized the Prime Minister's dedication to the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Samman (solidarity, development, trust, and respect for all).

“This tradition, which has been maintained since 1947, has been observed by every Prime Minister of the nation,” Chishti remarked. “Since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently sent a chadar as a token of devotion and esteem. This action reflects India's profound tradition of honoring all religions, communities, and Sufi saints,” he told IANS.

The chadar from PM Modi will be presented this year by Union Minister for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, on January 4. This offering coincides with the annual Urs celebrations, which commemorate the death anniversary of the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, also referred to as Khwaja Garib Nawaz.

Chishti further discussed the significance of this act, emphasizing that it conveys a positive message for harmony in the face of efforts to create religious divides. “India's culture has always been about respecting everyone. The Prime Minister’s act of sending the chadar exemplifies this spirit, reinforcing the message of inclusivity and mutual respect,” he added.

The Ajmer Sharif Dargah draws millions of followers each year, transcending barriers of caste, creed, and religion. It stands as a unifying emblem of India’s pluralistic ethos.

Chishti expressed his gratitude towards PM Modi and highlighted the relevance of this gesture in the contemporary context. “When the chadar arrives, we will personally receive it with great honor. This act delivers a clear message to those who seek to create discord in the name of religion. It reaffirms our shared heritage and collective harmony.”

He also remarked that the Prime Minister’s ongoing offering of the chadar serves as a testament to his dedication to India’s secular and inclusive traditions.

As the Urs celebrations begin, the chadar sent by PM Modi symbolizes India's cultural unity and its rich tradition of respecting diverse faiths. This event emphasizes the lasting message of Khwaja Garib Nawaz -- peace, compassion, and universal brotherhood.

The Ajmer Sharif Dargah remains a beacon of hope and harmony, attracting millions of devotees from around the globe. In such times, PM Modi's gesture resonates as a powerful symbol of unity in diversity, affirming India’s steadfast commitment to its cultural and spiritual heritage.
