New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday dismissed the comments made by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal following his acquittal by a Delhi court in the liquor policy case, asserting that such statements hold no weight, as Kejriwal has been making similar claims for years.
Upon his arrival at Kangra Airport in Himachal Pradesh, Rijiju stated, “What impact does it have if he makes such assertions? Arvind Kejriwal has been voicing these sentiments for years; there is no truth to them. He casually makes these statements. His claims lack credibility. He employs derogatory language against the Prime Minister merely to attract attention, but there’s nothing we can do about it — it’s a democracy, and he is entitled to express himself.”
Rijiju's comments followed a Delhi Court's decision to discharge Kejriwal and 22 others, including his close aide and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in the Excise Policy case.
Regarding the court's ruling, Rijiju remarked, “This is a standard procedure. If any court delivers a verdict that contains an error, one can elevate the matter to a higher court or a larger Bench for rectification. Should there be any misapprehension of facts, an appeal can be lodged, leading to necessary amendments and a proper judgment.”
Earlier on Friday, following the court's ruling, an emotional Kejriwal told reporters that the judgment validates that he, Sisodia, and the AAP are “Kattar Imaandar (brutally honest).”
With tears in his eyes, he asserted that “Modi-ji and Amit Shah-ji conspired the largest political conspiracy in the history of Independent India. The five leading members of AAP were incarcerated to dismantle the party. For the first time, a sitting Chief Minister was ‘forcibly taken from his residence and imprisoned.'”
During a subsequent press conference, Kejriwal criticized the ruling BJP, alleging that the party, unable to defeat AAP in Delhi and witnessing the public's support for his government, resorted to political intrigue.
He maintained, “I have not profited illegally, unlike them,” emphasizing that Delhi is facing decline.
“The highest cost of PM Modi and Amit Shah’s quest for power has been shouldered by the three crore people of Delhi. Today, I challenge Modi-ji; if he has the guts, let him call for fresh elections in Delhi. If his party secures more than 10 seats, I will exit politics,” he declared.
