Guwahati, April 5 (NationPress) Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, spouse of Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has responded to allegations made by Congress leader Pawan Khera on Sunday, accusing him of disseminating “poorly fabricated” documents and warning of impending legal measures.

In her statement on X, Riniki pointed out significant flaws not just in Khera's claims but also in the purported documents he has circulated.

“Aapki sirf tapasya mein hi nahi, AI generation aur photoshopping mein bhi kami reh gayi, (You fell short not only in your penance but also in AI generation and Photoshopping),” she remarked, taking a jab at Khera. She emphasized that as a spokesperson for a national party, Khera should have maintained basic diligence instead of promoting what she described as “imaginary passports and documents.”

“I expected a spokesperson of a national party to exercise basic due diligence, rather than circulate poorly fabricated images of imaginary passports and documents,” she reiterated in her post.

Riniki Bhuyan Sarma declared that she would now involve the legal system. “I will be letting the law take over. Criminal charges are being initiated. We can continue this in court,” she stated, tagging Khera and the Congress party in her post.

This response follows a political controversy ignited by Khera's allegations concerning the Assam Chief Minister's family, which both Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife have firmly denied.

The Chief Minister also dismissed Pawan Khera's accusations, labeling the documents shared against his family as “fabricated” and part of a “malicious propaganda campaign.” In a statement on X, CM Sarma pointed out that the documents being circulated contain “glaring inconsistencies” indicative of “crude and poorly executed digital manipulation.”

Highlighting these discrepancies, the Chief Minister noted that the surname in the documents was incorrectly stated as “Sarma” rather than the official “Sharma,” raising doubts about their legitimacy.

He further mentioned that the photograph used appeared to be a publicly available image rather than a standard biometric capture. CM Sarma also highlighted anomalies in the alleged UAE identity details, revealing inconsistencies in the ID sequence that do not match the expected year-of-birth pattern.

Moreover, he pointed out a nationality mismatch, where the document supposedly lists Egypt while the machine-readable zone (MRZ) shows a different country code.

Referring to an alleged Antigua and Barbuda passport, CM Sarma revealed a discrepancy between the expiry date noted in the printed field and the MRZ. In the case of the Egyptian passport, he cited inconsistencies between the printed details and the MRZ, including spelling errors like “Egyptiann” and incorrect Arabic references.

The Chief Minister also questioned the authenticity of a title deed that was circulated, asserting that its QR code does not link to any valid record.

“These inconsistencies strongly indicate possible fabrication or digital manipulation,” CM Sarma emphasized, asserting that “truth will prevail” and warning that those who disseminate false information will be held accountable.

Previously, during a press conference in Delhi, Khera had alleged that Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, possesses passports from three countries: the UAE, Antigua, and Egypt. He claimed that certain overseas assets, including properties in Dubai, were not disclosed in official records.

Additionally, he alleged that a company registered in Wyoming, USA, is linked to Sarma, involving financial dealings worth thousands of crores of dollars.

Khera labeled the situation as a potential case of asset concealment and requested a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe by the Union Home Ministry.
