Patna, Dec 4 (NationPress) In the midst of the ongoing bulldozer initiative targeting alleged illegal encroachments in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) member Kumar Sarvjeet took a jab at Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, labeling him as "Bulldozer Baba" during the proceedings of the Bihar Assembly.
The fourth day of the Winter Session of the Bihar Legislature was marked by intense debates as discussions continued on the Governor’s address, with both ruling and opposition sides engaging in pointed exchanges.
The opposition harshly criticized the government for what they described as "bulldozer-driven anti-encroachment initiatives" that have surged since the new NDA government took charge in the state.
During the session, RJD legislators claimed that while the government asserts it is eliminating illegal encroachments, the poor and marginalized are bearing the brunt as their homes and temporary shelters are demolished under the guise of enforcement.
In a sarcastic remark, RJD legislator Kumar Sarvjeet stated, "We read in the papers that journalists are mocking him."
The RJD leader pointed out that despite the Bihar Deputy CM’s title being Samrat, journalists have taken to calling him "Bulldozer Baba".
Sarvjeet continued to mock, saying, "Journalists are attempting to damage our friend’s reputation. He has just taken over the Home Department and assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister, yet he has already earned the nickname Bulldozer Baba."
He made a plea to the Treasury benches: "If you’ve stepped into the role of Deputy Chief Minister, please don’t make a name for yourself by demolishing the homes of the impoverished. This is my humble request to you in this House."
In response to the allegations, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary countered the opposition’s claims, asserting that there is no "bulldozer issue" in Bihar—only a focus on good governance and law enforcement.
Choudhary stated: "I want to clarify a few points. Nitish Kumar has established good governance in Bihar. There is no bulldozer issue here, nor am I known as 'Bulldozer'. I am simply Samrat Choudhary—let’s be clear about that. The judiciary has made decisions in Bihar, and all arrangements have been made accordingly."
He emphasized that the judiciary has issued directives to the district administration, and actions against encroachments are being executed in line with these legal orders. He assured that strict measures would be taken against all forms of mafia—be it the sand mafia, land mafia, or liquor mafia.
"I can assure you that no one will evade accountability under Nitish Kumar’s leadership," Choudhary declared firmly on the floor of the House, highlighting the government's tough stance.
He also mentioned that the NDA government is committed to aiding the poor, noting that the Central government has provided permanent housing to 60 lakh economically disadvantaged families through various housing initiatives, and that the state government stands in solidarity with them.
