Jaipur, May 24 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has appointed former MLA Joginder Singh Awana as the new President of the Rajasthan Party.
Last month, Awana exited the Congress and joined the RLD.
Upon taking on this significant role, Awana stated that he plans to collaborate with senior party leaders and undertake statewide tours.
Previously known as a close ally of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Awana expressed his gratitude towards the RLD leadership for this opportunity.
He mentioned that he recently met with RLD President Jayant Chaudhary, who is expected to visit Jaipur in June.
Outlining his action plan, the newly appointed RLD State President emphasized the importance of teamwork rooted in his political background.
Awana has visited all districts across Rajasthan, noting that the party's team is actively engaged in every area.
He asserted that their objective is to fortify the party structure from the divisional level down to the Assembly and booth levels.
Awana's induction into the RLD occurred in Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister and RLD President Jayant Chaudhary. This decision signifies a new political chapter and is anticipated to significantly influence voter dynamics in eastern Rajasthan.
Awana, who has substantial grassroots support in Bharatpur and nearby areas, first gained recognition during the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections.
Running for the Nadbai constituency on a Bahujan Samaj Party ticket, he triumphed over BJP's Krishnendra Kaur (Deepa), a member of the royal family, by securing over 50,000 votes. He subsequently joined the Congress and remained active until his recent transition to the RLD.
RLD National General Secretary Trilok Tyagi and other national party leaders were present at the event.
Tyagi emphasized that the RLD is dedicated to advocating for farmers' interests nationwide and has been engaging with the BJP-led state government to ensure their demands are met.
The RLD plans to remain active in the desert state and will participate in both panchayat and Assembly elections, he added.
According to Tyagi, the upcoming state Assembly polls in 2028 will witness a more robust presence of the RLD in Rajasthan.
