New Delhi, March 22 (NationPress) In a significant political development, former Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader K.C. Tyagi and ex-Uttar Pradesh Minister Ashok Yadav officially joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Sunday, accompanied by party President and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary.
The RLD President warmly embraced both seasoned politicians as they became part of the party.
In a message posted on X, Chaudhary expressed, "We are pleased to welcome and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the distinguished leaders joining the Rashtriya Lok Dal family, former Member of Parliament Shri K.C. Tyagi Ji, and former Uttar Pradesh Minister Shri Ashok Yadav."
"During the esteemed event held at Maulana Azad Bhawan Hall in Delhi, we had the honor of formally introducing them to the party. Their inclusion will undoubtedly strengthen the Rashtriya Lok Dal's resolve, injecting new vigor into our pledge to serve the public," he added.
Tyagi had previously stepped down from the JD-U, led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on March 17. "With the completion of the party's membership drive, I have opted not to renew my membership this time," he stated in a press release upon his departure.
His affiliation with the JD-U dates back to its inception in October 2003 when the Samata Party merged with the Janata Dal.
Even after distancing himself from the JD-U, Tyagi reiterated his unwavering commitment to advocacy for the underprivileged, farmers, and marginalized communities.
He also maintained that his respect for JD-U leader Nitish Kumar remains strong.
Earlier, JD-U spokesperson Neeraj Kumar informed IANS that Tyagi's resignation was not prompted by any ideological disagreements with the party.
“K.C. Tyagi's departure is not due to any conflicts with party policies. He has expressed great esteem for Nitish Kumar and is eager to engage in Uttar Pradesh's political landscape,” he conveyed.
