Patna, Jan 17 (NationPress) As the Bihar Assembly elections approach, the Janata Dal (United) has suffered a significant blow with the defection of former MP Mangani Lal Mandal to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Friday.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav extended a warm welcome to Mandal, affirming that he would assume a crucial role in the party's forthcoming initiatives.

Tejashwi expressed, “It brings joy to see Mangani Lal Mandal, who has been our mentor and a close associate of my father, rejoining the party. His vast experience will be an asset for both us and the party.”

He highlighted that Mandal’s return is a “Ghar Wapsi” (homecoming) and mentioned that the former MP would be given a significant responsibility within the RJD.

“His involvement will empower young socialists like us to advance socialism in Bihar, leveraging his wealth of experience. He will be entrusted with a key role in the party, and we will ensure he has substantial responsibilities,” he added.

After rejoining the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mandal conveyed his joy at returning to his “old home.” He reminisced fondly about his political journey and acknowledged the enduring association with RJD founder Lalu Yadav.

“Lalu Yadav has been our leader and ally. My political journey culminated in Lalu Yadav's leadership,” Mandal reflected, emphasizing Yadav's influence on his career.

Mandal, who had held the positions of vice president and secretary in the Janata Dal (United) for five years, criticized the party for neglecting his contributions, stating that his efforts were overlooked.

“I felt stifled in the JD(U) over the past five years. The party has sidelined backward caste leaders and is now dominated by a handful of individuals. This reflects the current state of the JD(U),” Mandal expressed, articulating his concerns regarding the treatment of backward caste leaders.

Mandal lauded the RJD’s initiatives, particularly the caste survey and job creation efforts in Bihar, crediting these accomplishments to Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership. “The caste survey in Bihar was initiated by Tejashwi Yadav, and job opportunities have been created under his guidance,” he noted.
