New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Wednesday that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) serves as a pivotal organization aimed at character development to foster nation building, guiding individuals to evolve from 'I' to 'We'.
While speaking at the RSS centenary celebrations held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, he noted, 'Just as human communities thrive along the banks of a river, countless lives have prospered alongside the flow of Sangh. The Sangh has influenced every facet of this nation.'
'The RSS comprises several sub-organizations, yet they all unite under one mission – 'Rashtriya Pratham' (Nation First). There is no contradiction or conflict among these sub-organizations,' the Prime Minister remarked.
Highlighting the RSS's commitment to national development, PM Modi stated, 'To realize this commitment, the Sangh embarked on a journey from individual growth to national prosperity. An organization that operates consistently was essential for this. Hedgewar ji understood that our nation's strength would only grow when every Indian felt a sense of duty towards it. Therefore, he dedicated himself to individual development.'
'The Sangh represents a source of inspiration, marking the beginning of a volunteer's journey from 'I' to 'We',' he asserted.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the process of character-building is still evident in the RSS shakhas, which function as 'sacred platforms for character development.'
'In these shakhas, individuals experience physical, mental, and social growth. A profound sense of national service and bravery gradually flourishes in the hearts of swayamsevaks. The noble goal of national development, a clear trajectory of character development, and the straightforward work of the Shakha form the bedrock of the Sangh.'
Paying tribute to Hedgewar and acknowledging the RSS's contributions during the freedom struggle, PM Modi remarked, 'During the independence movement, we saw revered Dr. Hedgewar and numerous Sangh members actively engage in the fight for freedom. Dr. Hedgewar himself was imprisoned in Nagpur Jail. The Sangh relentlessly supported many freedom fighters, standing alongside them in their battle.'
The Prime Minister noted that throughout the course of national service, there were persistent conspiracies aimed at undermining the RSS, but the organization remained resilient against these challenges.
'The Sangh has faced numerous attacks and conspiracies, even post-Independence. Repeated efforts were made to suppress the organization and marginalize it. Guruji was wrongfully implicated and imprisoned. However, upon his release, he spoke with extraordinary composure, offering words that have become a significant source of inspiration in our history.'
'Despite the many conspiracies against the Sangh, the Swayamsevaks remained undeterred by any hostility.'
