Bengaluru, March 21 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has voiced its apprehension regarding the recent turmoil in the troubled northeastern state of Manipur, stating that it will require a considerable amount of time to restore a normal atmosphere in the region.
During a press briefing after the commencement of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), Mukunda C.R., the Joint General Secretary of the RSS, remarked: "One of our primary concerns is Manipur. The state has endured a challenging phase for the last 20 months. Nonetheless, there is a glimmer of hope today after assessing the measures taken by the Central government; some of these decisions are both political and administrative in nature. These actions have uplifted the spirits of the people residing in Manipur.
"As an organization, we believe it will take a significant amount of time for a natural atmosphere to be reinstated."
In response to a query regarding peace initiatives in Manipur, he stated: "Our focus as a social organization is to unite the two conflicting tribal factions, the Meitei and the Kukis. We have volunteers and affiliated groups among both communities and are actively working to encourage dialogue between their leaders."
He continued, "There are numerous political dimensions that necessitate attention. The Central government has initiated decisions in this context and is diligently performing its responsibilities. In the meantime, we are playing our part by aiding in the unification of these communities."
"I won’t name individuals, but we are in contact with leaders from both groups. Meetings have been conducted in Imphal, Guwahati, and Delhi to promote harmony. This situation is intricate and multifaceted. We are utilizing whatever influence and moral authority we possess to make an impact, and it is producing positive outcomes," Mukunda expressed.
He also emphasized the ongoing relief efforts, stating: "We have established hundreds of relief camps since the outbreak of violence, extending assistance to thousands of displaced individuals in their homeland. Our volunteers nationwide have not only provided sustenance but also offered support to affected families in various capacities. These initiatives have been consistent for the past 20 months.
"Currently, there is a sense of hope. With the implementation of President's Rule, specific administrative actions can be taken to restore order. Nevertheless, as I previously mentioned, it will take a considerable amount of time to mend the wounds inflicted over these past 20 months."
