New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) On Thursday, Russia refuted Ukraine's claims regarding an alleged attack by its military on the warehouse of an Indian pharmaceutical company in Kyiv during a drone strike on April 12, emphasizing that Moscow has never targeted civilian facilities in its ongoing Special Military Operation in Ukraine.
In a statement released by the Russian Embassy in India, it was noted, "In response to the allegations propagated by the Embassy of Ukraine in India, the Russian Armed Forces did not attack or plan to attack on April 12, 2025, Kusum Healthcare's pharmacy warehouse located in the eastern section of Kyiv."
The statement further elaborated, "On that date, Russian tactical aviation, strike unmanned aerial vehicles, and missile forces struck an aviation plant associated with the Ukrainian military industrial complex, along with the infrastructure of a military airfield and facilities for repairing armored vehicles and assembling UAVs at an entirely different site."
Oleksandr Polishchuk, Ukraine's Ambassador to India, claimed that the warehouse of the Kusum Group was "deliberately targeted" by a Russian drone, leading to damages estimated at nearly $25 million.
Conversely, Russia suggested that the "most plausible explanation" for the incident is that a Ukrainian air defense missile malfunctioned and struck the Kusum Healthcare warehouse, igniting a fire.
The Russian Embassy reported, "Similar occurrences have been noted previously, where Ukrainian air defense interceptors, failing to hit their intended targets, have landed in populated areas due to poorly operated electronic warfare systems."
It emphasized that throughout the ongoing conflict, the Russian Armed Forces have consistently refrained from targeting civilian facilities.
Furthermore, the statement remarked, "It has become a common practice for the Ukrainian military to position air defense systems, rocket launchers, artillery, and other military hardware in urban areas, effectively using civilians as a human shield."
