Moscow, April 18 (NationPress) The Russian Embassy in India has rejected the allegations from Ukraine that it targeted the Indian pharmaceutical firm Kusum, labeling the reports as fabricated.
In a counterclaim, it attributed the incident to Ukraine, stating that one of the air defense missiles from Ukraine landed on the Kusum Healthcare warehouse, igniting a fire.
"In response to the accusations propagated by the Embassy of Ukraine in India, the Russian Embassy in New Delhi clarifies that the Russian Armed Forces did not conduct or plan any attack on April 12, 2025, on Kusum Healthcare's warehouse located in eastern Kiev. On that date, Russian tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and missile forces targeted an aviation plant of the Ukrainian military industry, along with military airfield infrastructure, armored vehicle repair facilities, and UAV assembly workshops situated at a completely different site," the Embassy stated.
"The most plausible explanation for the incident is that a Ukrainian air defense missile malfunctioned and struck the Kusum Healthcare warehouse, causing the fire. Similar incidents have occurred previously where Ukrainian air defense interceptors missed their intended targets and fell in urban areas due to poorly managed electronic warfare systems," it added.
Last week, the Ukrainian Embassy criticized the Russian government led by Vladimir Putin, asserting that it had executed a "deliberate" attack while still proclaiming a "special friendship" with India.
"Today, a Russian missile hit the warehouse of the Indian pharmaceutical company Kusum in Ukraine. While professing a 'special friendship' with India, Moscow intentionally targets Indian enterprises — damaging medicines intended for children and the elderly," it stated.
Meanwhile, Russian forces initiated an assault on the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson on Wednesday, resulting in one fatality and nine injuries, as routine attacks persist across the war-ravaged nation.
Last week, the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Ukraine exchanged fresh accusations regarding violations of a fragile, US-mediated agreement aimed at halting attacks on energy infrastructure — highlighting the ongoing difficulties in efforts to conclude the three-year conflict.
Although both parties tentatively agreed last month to a 30-day ceasefire during negotiations facilitated by US officials in Saudi Arabia, confusion swiftly ensued.
Disputes arose over the commencement date of the ceasefire, and each side quickly accused the other of violating the agreement, casting doubt on the feasibility of the truce.
