Agartala, Jan 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura and prominent BJP figure, Manik Saha, criticized the opposition CPI-M on Wednesday, calling them a "master at deceiving the public" and accusing them of failing to recognize progress.

Saha, who previously served as the state BJP president, responded vigorously to accusations made by CPI-M leaders during a public assembly.

He also directed harsh comments at CPI-M politburo member Prakash Karat, suggesting he should ‘undergo cataract surgery’ because he cannot perceive Tripura's development.

"He (Karat) has cataracts in his eyes. He needs cataract surgery. How can he see progress? When he arrived at Agartala airport this time, didn’t he recognize Tripura’s growth? We have named the airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. During the CPI-M's rule, they disrespected Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur," he stated.

The BJP administration named the airport to honor Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and acknowledge his contributions to Tripura's development.

"Did he overlook the advancements on the road where he raised his party (CPI-M) flag? They fail to see progress, which is why they constantly issue such statements. They are truly masters at misleading the public," he added.

Saha continued, stating that the nation’s economy has advanced from the 11th to the 5th position, while CPI-M has regressed by 50 years.

"That’s why they feel left behind. They sense this because they are trailing. How many times did they attack the Constitution during the UPA or Congress era? Have they forgotten that? Since Narendra Modi took office as Prime Minister, he has endeavored to uphold the Constitution. In contrast, CPI-M and Congress have sought to undermine it.

"Everyone witnessed their actions in West Bengal. Now, they are receiving fewer votes than NOTA," the Chief Minister remarked, urging people to comprehend why they are rejecting CPI-M, which is now experiencing defeats everywhere.

Earlier, CPI-M Politburo members Prakash Karat and Manik Sarkar (former Tripura Chief Minister) along with CPI-M Tripura state Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, fiercely criticized the BJP for its “misgovernance in Tripura and at the Centre".

Top CPI-M leaders alleged that the 11-year tenure of the BJP-led Narendra Modi government has dismantled democracy in the country, claiming the BJP is governing solely to benefit the wealthy.

The public meeting was held as part of the three-day (January 29 to 31) 24th state conference of the CPI-M.
