Guwahati, Jan 24 (NationPress) Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with senior representatives of a prominent Japanese semiconductor company in Tokyo on Friday and extended an invitation for collaboration on the forthcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility in Assam.

In a post on X, CM Sarma shared, "I had a meeting with Mr. Takeshi Okubo, the Executive Vice President of @TokyoElectron_J (TEL). TEL plays a crucial role in the semiconductor supply chain, focusing on equipment design for chip production. I have encouraged them to partner with Assam. Our new Electronic City at Jagiroad aims to become a hub for a comprehensive #semiconductor ecosystem."

The Assam Chief Minister also engaged with the Parliamentary Vice Minister of Japan, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to fostering a strong relationship with this foreign nation.

CM Sarma noted in his X post, "Meeting H.E. Ms. Akiko Ikuina, Parliamentary Vice Minister, @MofaJapan_en was an honor. I was pleasantly surprised when she greeted me in Assamese. She expressed Japan's intention to provide opportunities to India's, especially Assam's, talented youth in Japan."

"During our discussions, I highlighted Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji's vision for a solid partnership between India and Japan, aimed at improving the lives of our citizens," he further added.

The Chief Minister also conferred with the CEO of Mizuho Securities India.

"I had a fruitful meeting with Mr. Takao Hosoya, CEO of Mizuho Securities India. We explored the possibility of extending credit linkages to companies based in Assam and facilitating investments from Japanese enterprises. Mizuho Securities is recognized for its innovative financial solutions and credit facilities. I invited them to participate in #AdvantageAssam2.0 to finalize their plans for the state and discover collaboration opportunities," CM Sarma highlighted in a social media update. Additionally, the CM engaged with high-ranking officials from a Japanese electrical engineering firm.

CM Sarma stated on X, "I met with Mr. Yoshiaki Asakura, Vice President of @Yokogawa. They are a leading electrical engineering company from Japan, currently collaborating with @NRL_MoPNG and @IndianOilcl in Assam. We have requested them to consider expanding their operations in Assam and to support the growing electronic and energy sectors in the state."
