Chandigarh, Oct 14 (NationPress) Enhanced security measures have been established at the home of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Singh on Tuesday as tensions escalate concerning his suicide case.
A significant police presence has been deployed in the vicinity, and one lane of the road has been restricted to public access.
On Monday evening, the Haryana government declared a state-wide alert to uphold law and order and ensure communal peace, directing all field personnel to be on high alert for any developments.
The instructions were communicated by the General Administration Department (Political Branch) on behalf of the Chief Secretary to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Haryana DGP, and all Police Commissioners, IGPs, as well as DCs/SPs across every district for adherence to these directives.
This response follows protests throughout the state advocating for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Furthermore, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is expected to arrive in Chandigarh to meet with the family of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Singh amidst a fortified security presence.
"LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi is set to offer condolences today at the residence of the late Shri Y. Puran Kumar (IPS)," the Congress party announced on X.
Kumar is reported to have taken his own life on October 7. His spouse, senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, has called upon Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to ensure the filing of an FIR and the suspension and arrest of individuals mentioned in her husband's "final note."
