Seven Injured in Collision with Rajasthan CM's Convoy

Jaipur, Dec 11 (NationPress) An incident involving the convoy of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma occurred at the Akshaya Patra crossing in Jagatpura, Jaipur, leading to injuries for seven individuals, including five police personnel.

The accident transpired when a vehicle from the opposite direction collided with two cars within the Chief Minister's convoy.

Officials from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) informed IANS that the recklessly driven car approached from the other side and crashed into a Bolero that was part of the convoy.

It also made slight contact with another vehicle, they noted.

This incident resulted in injuries to five police officers, along with injuries to others in private vehicles, according to their reports.

The convoy had departed from the Chief Minister's residence at 3 p.m. and was en route to the inauguration ceremony of the Sohan Singh Smriti Skill Development Centre, organized by Laghu Udyog Bharati.

At the Akshaya Patra crossing, a car traveling from the opposite direction struck the lead vehicle of the convoy, instigating the crash.

In the aftermath of the accident, CM Sharma promptly exited his vehicle to provide aid to the injured.

The Chief Minister took personal responsibility to ensure that those injured were transported to nearby medical facilities.

Currently, two of the injured are receiving care at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, while three others, including police officer Surendra Singh, are hospitalized at Jeevan Rekha Hospital.

Surendra Singh remains in a critical state due to a head injury and is on a ventilator.

The driver of the opposing vehicle, Pawan, is also receiving treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, while his companion has been admitted to Sawai Mansingh Hospital, according to sources.

The collision inflicted considerable damage on three vehicles, which included two government cars and a taxi.

The injured police officers have been named as Balwan Singh, Devendra Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police Amir Hasan, Rajendra, and Surendra.

Witnesses stated that the vehicle from the opposite lane initially struck the lead vehicle in the convoy with such intensity that both cars veered off the roadway. This sudden occurrence forced other vehicles in the convoy to brake suddenly, resulting in one of the cars mounting the divider.

Due to this incident, CM Sharma has cancelled his previously scheduled engagements and remained at the hospital with the injured to ensure they receive adequate care.
