Nagaur MP Questions Intelligence Oversight Following Collision Involving Rajasthan CM's Convoy

Jaipur, Dec 12 (NationPress) The chief of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal has raised alarms about an incident where a car coming from the wrong side collided with the convoy of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Mahal Road in Jagatpura, Jaipur.
This unfortunate incident led to the tragic death of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Surendra Singh, while four other police officers suffered injuries due to the high-speed car crashing into the convoy.
Beniwal characterized the event as a notable intelligence failure and demanded accountability from senior officials in charge.
Offering his condolences, Beniwal remarked, "The loss of ASI Surendra Singh and the injuries sustained by police personnel in this incident is profoundly distressing. My thoughts are with the grieving family, and I wish for the swift recovery of the injured."
He further stressed the seriousness of the incident, highlighting that a vehicle coming from the opposite direction crashing into the Chief Minister’s convoy indicates a significant security lapse. "During the Chief Minister's travel, the responsibility for his safety is assigned to an IG-level officer, supported by state intelligence. This occurrence reveals a considerable failure on their part. Immediate action should be initiated against the officer responsible for the Chief Minister's security, and a comprehensive investigation must be launched," he noted.
Previously, PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasara also called for an in-depth inquiry into the incident. Expressing his worry, Dotasara stated, "The reports of numerous policemen and civilians being severely injured in the Chief Minister’s convoy accident are extremely unfortunate. Thankfully, the Chief Minister is safe. I wish for the prompt recovery of the injured and urge the government to ensure a detailed investigation into the situation."
On Wednesday, CM Sharma was en route to attend an event of Laghu Udyog Bharti, which was graced by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, when the collision occurred.
Seven individuals, including five police officers and two others, were injured in the crash near Akshaya Patra Chauraha on the Jagatpura road.
The CM halted the convoy and personally transported the critically injured individual to the hospital, while the other injured were also taken for medical attention.
