Severed Female Head Found in Trash Van in Kolkata

Kolkata, Dec 13 (NationPress) A state of alarm overtook residents in the Gold Green locality of Kolkata on Friday as they came across the decapitated head of a woman resting on top of a heap of trash in a litter van.
Morning joggers who stumbled upon the gruesome sight promptly notified the local police.
Authorities arrived swiftly to collect the severed head, yet they were unable to locate the woman's body or any other remains in the vicinity.
According to sources from the city police, it is highly likely that the woman's body has been dismembered and disposed of at various locations in an attempt to confuse law enforcement and hinder the investigation.
Police are currently focused on identifying the victim and uncovering the circumstances surrounding her death, with the ultimate goal of apprehending those responsible for this horrific act, stated an official from the city police department.
Local residents were unable to recognize the woman. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area. The Deputy Commissioner of the eastern suburban division of Kolkata Police, Bidisha Kalita, personally visited the scene.
Nevertheless, the discovery of the woman's severed head in such a well-to-do and populated area has sent shockwaves throughout the community.
Just days earlier, on Wednesday night, a decomposed body of a man wrapped in a sack was unearthed from a litter vat in Thakurpukur, located on the southern outskirts of Kolkata. In this instance, the identity of the deceased has yet to be established.
The police suspect that the man was a vagabond and that his demise may have occurred after he fell into a trash heap.
Earlier this April, dismembered parts of a woman were found wrapped in plastic bags in an abandoned barrack of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in the Watgunge area of South Kolkata. However, in that case, the woman was identified within days.
