Bhopal, Nov 4 (NationPress) In response to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's commentary on India's dynastic politics, Madhya Pradesh BJP Chief Hemant Khandelwal remarked on Tuesday that Tharoor has shared his own observations regarding the Congress party.
In a pointed criticism of the Congress, Khandelwal asserted that the historic party has consistently struggled to evolve beyond leaders from a singular family.
He further claimed that the Congress lacks a robust ideology, as decision-making is centralized within one family.
"What Shashi Tharoor articulated is absolutely accurate, as he has conveyed his own experiences with dynastic politics in Congress. Political parties can only strengthen when there is inclusiveness from all sectors of society; otherwise, they will resemble the Congress," Khandelwal stated during a media briefing in Bhopal.
Khandelwal, a seasoned BJP MLA from Betul, also expressed that the BJP's growth is attributed to its strong leadership, dedication to the populace, and engagement from diverse societal segments.
"The Congress carries no substantial ideology or impactful vision, remaining confined to a single family, while the BJP is on an upward trajectory," said Khandelwal, who was appointed as the State BJP Chief in July.
The discussion around dynastic politics was reignited after Tharoor published an article asserting that such politics across the political landscape represents a 'serious threat' to Indian democracy, advocating for a shift from 'dynasty to meritocracy'.
In his piece for the international media platform 'Project Syndicate', Tharoor noted that when political authority is dictated by lineage instead of merit, dedication, or community involvement, governance quality deteriorates.
He also pointed out that while the Nehru-Gandhi family is linked to the Congress, dynastic succession is prevalent across the entire political spectrum.
