Shatrughan Sinha Calls for Careful Approach to Violence in Sambhal and Minority Issues in Bangladesh

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) Actor-turned-politician and TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha called for careful consideration and thoughtful management of the current violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, alongside the troubling situation for minorities in Bangladesh.

This statement follows the tragic events in Sambhal, where five individuals lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries. The unrest ignited during a court-ordered assessment of the historic Shahi Jama Masjid (mosque), which some Hindu groups argue was constructed on the ruins of a demolished temple. Additionally, the situation in Bangladesh remains concerning due to the ongoing turmoil.

In an interview with IANS, Sinha highlighted the necessity for a measured response to the disturbances in Sambhal.

"This case is extremely sensitive and should be approached with great care. It’s essential to concentrate on uncovering the underlying causes and finding solutions rather than merely displaying posters," he stated.

Sinha went on to affirm that in India, all individuals, irrespective of their caste or faith, possess equal rights.

"Any acts that incite or endorse violence are deplorable and disgraceful," he remarked.

Offering his condolences to those affected by the violence, Sinha expressed, "I stand in solidarity with the families who have suffered losses. My thoughts are with them, and I sincerely hope we never witness such events again."

He advocated for initiating a dialogue to thoroughly explore the root causes of the unrest, urging the government to work towards resolution instead of fostering division through public displays.

Regarding the ongoing violence against minorities in Bangladesh, Sinha stated, "Although it is primarily an internal issue, the situation is unacceptable. The violence occurring there deeply concerns all of us."

He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for their diplomatic efforts to address the matter.

Nonetheless, Sinha emphasized the importance of comprehending the broader issues influencing relations with neighboring nations, advocating for a more profound examination of the factors contributing to regional tensions.

In the meantime, S Jaishankar is anticipated to address the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the Parliament on the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh on Friday, November 29, unless the proceedings are obstructed by opposition leaders.
