Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Nahan (Himachal Pradesh), Feb 26 (NationPress) Women across various states in India are achieving self-reliance and financial independence by participating in Self-Help Groups (SHGs). They are reaping significant benefits from a variety of women empowerment initiatives introduced by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a result, women today are not only more confident but also financially empowered.
In Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, women are also reaping the rewards of such government schemes. They have shifted towards utilizing their own resources instead of relying on external assistance. During a media interaction, women involved in different Self-Help Groups recounted their journeys towards achieving financial independence.
They highlighted that the central government, under PM Modi, has implemented multiple programs focused on women's empowerment, such as the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
These initiatives have significantly benefitted many women, leading them to establish their own businesses in Nahan.
Currently, women are producing items such as papad, namkeen, chutney, pickles, and other homemade products, which they sell in local markets. These items are highly sought after and command good prices.
The women further elaborated that the revenue generated from their sales is being utilized to offer loans at low interest rates to fellow members of the group, thereby supporting others in launching and expanding their own enterprises.
Suman, the President of the M.C. Self-Help Group, stated that numerous women have transformed into self-reliant individuals.
"We create baskets, small clothing items, jackets, and various women-centric products, including namkeen. We are reaping the benefits of numerous government schemes. Women in our group have embarked on their own business ventures," she shared.
Promila, the President of the Disha Self-Help Group, noted that many women are capitalizing on the schemes initiated by the Prime Minister.
“Some are engaged in pickle making, others in preparing namkeen, and several are involved in producing papad. This way, women are attaining financial independence,” she added.
