Nahan/Shimla, Jan 15 (NationPress) Self-help groups established under the National Rural Livelihood Mission are proving to be immensely advantageous for women. By participating in these groups, women in rural regions are achieving self-sufficiency.
Women from rural backgrounds eager to display their talents are enhancing their skills by becoming members of these groups. This participation has allowed them to generate a substantial income and effectively support their families.
An elderly woman from Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, recounted her experience, stating that in their self-help group, they collaborate to produce items like pickles, papads, and various other products.
"We put in a lot of effort in this group. With assistance from the SDM, we were allocated space to establish a stall, which has greatly benefitted us. We bring our products daily, sell them, and return home," she expressed.
She further mentioned that being part of this group has been very fulfilling for women as, in addition to generating income, they are introducing their products to the community.
Moreover, she noted that district officials periodically provide financial support.
"Women are earning a decent income through this work and are progressing through their hard work," she stated.
Women engaged in self-help groups indicated that they receive considerable assistance from district-level authorities.
"We don’t encounter any challenges in establishing our stalls. We can effortlessly set up our stalls and commence selling our products," they said.
Under the 'National Rural Livelihood Mission', women across multiple districts in Himachal Pradesh are becoming self-sufficient by joining self-help groups.
Typically, women create and market products such as pickles, papads, juices, and tomato chutneys.
These offerings attract numerous buyers, and once a customer purchases from them, they often return for their favorite items. This initiative is also motivating other women to pursue self-reliance.
