Is Shiv Sena's Shaina NC Right to Question BJP's Ganesh Naik's 'Erase Shinde' Comment?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 26 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC expressed her disapproval on Monday regarding Maharashtra BJP minister Ganesh Naik's comment about 'erasing Shinde.' She questioned if this statement had received approval from the party's leadership and emphasized that her party does not require any validation from him.
Naik's comments, which targeted Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, have reignited tensions within the ruling Mahayuti alliance, particularly as uncertainty lingers over the Mumbai Mayor position following the recent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
At a public gathering, Naik remarked that if permitted by BJP leadership, he could politically 'erase' Eknath Shinde. This statement gained significant attention, revealing underlying discontent between the BJP and the Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Naik also contended that the recent local body election outcomes showcased flaws in the alliance's seat-sharing strategy.
He claimed that the BJP might have fared better had it contested independently in regions like Thane, Kalyan, and Ulhasnagar, which are viewed as their strongholds.
In response, Shaina NC stated to IANS: 'Did Ganesh Naik seek permission from the BJP leadership before making such statements, or is this merely his personal view? We don't require his endorsement. Eknath Shinde is a leader of the people, deeply trusted and loved. Such statements reveal the mindset behind them clearly.'
She also reminded Naik of the political circumstances surrounding his ministerial role. 'Ganesh Naik should remember that he was appointed as a minister under Eknath Shinde's leadership. It’s wise to keep such opinions to oneself,' she added.
Shaina NC further commented on the ongoing debate in Maharashtra concerning the Padma awards, after Shiv Sena-UBT leaders criticized the Modi government for awarding the Padma Bhushan to former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and former Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
'Consider Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s history. He has been a pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, worked as a Union Minister, and later became the Governor of Maharashtra. He has consistently advocated for nationalism and love for our nation.'
She challenged the objections raised by opposition figures, adding, 'If he is being honored with a Padma award, why is there such resistance? Perhaps leaders like Sanjay Raut or Supriya Sule are aware that no leader from their side possesses a track record worthy of the Padma Bhushan, which might explain their objections.'
