Satara, Jan 20 (NationPress) Shiv Sena chief leader and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde addressed the recent developments regarding the Maharashtra government's decision to appoint Girish Mahajan (BJP) and Aditi Tatkare (NCP) as the guardian ministers for Nashik and Raigad districts respectively, which was later postponed on Sunday night.
The government released a notification late Sunday night halting these appointments following strong discontent from Shiv Sena, coinciding with Shinde's departure to his hometown Dare in Satara district.
Shinde made it clear that he did not harbor any ill feelings, asserting that there was nothing inappropriate about the aspirations expressed by Shiv Sena ministers Dadaji Bhuse and Bharat Gogawale to become the guardian ministers of Nashik and Raigad districts respectively.
Although the state government has put the appointments of Mahajan and Tatkare on hold pending further notice, Shinde firmly supported his ministers' right to voice their opinions.
“The demand for the guardian minister’s role by Bharat Gogawale is justified considering his longstanding service in Raigad district. It is reasonable to make such requests,” he stated.
“The three of us, including myself, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, will convene to discuss a resolution,” he added.
Shinde reiterated that the appointments for Nashik and Raigad district guardian ministers have been stalled, emphasizing that the matter will be settled amicably after discussions.
He dismissed media reports claiming he was upset over the appointments, clarifying, “I am not upset. I am engaged in work here. Every time I visit my hometown, the media speculates that I am displeased. I am actively working on the development of New Mahabaleshwar and need to frequently visit my native village, which will aid Satara district in becoming a tourist hub. As a local, I will put forth the necessary efforts.”
In the meantime, state BJP chief and revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule mentioned that the situation will be addressed after CM Fadnavis returns from Davos following the World Economic Forum meeting.
