Jammu, January 21 (NationPress) - A man was shot dead while driving his car in the bustling Jewel Chowk area of J&K’s Jammu city on Tuesday by unidentified attackers.
According to officials, the assailants opened fire in the crowded Jewel Chowk during the afternoon.
“The attackers discharged four bullets at the individual in the car. They were positioned at Jewel Chowk when they initiated the shooting. The victim suffered a severe bullet wound. He was promptly transported to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu, where medical personnel declared him dead upon arrival,” the officials reported.
The police swiftly arrived at the scene and commenced a search operation to apprehend the shooters, as stated by the officials.
The deceased has been identified as Sumit Jandial, a 37-year-old resident of Ward number 9 in the Vijaypur area of Jammu.
Postmortem procedures were initiated after the body was moved to the mortuary and an FIR was filed concerning the incident, according to officials.
It remains unclear whether this shooting is linked to gang conflicts or other motives like property disputes, familial disagreements, or various criminal activities.
