Srinagar, May 17 (NationPress) The State Investigation Agency (SIA) commenced a series of coordinated raids on Saturday across multiple sites in the Kashmir Valley, targeting activities linked to terrorism.
According to official sources, the SIA operatives, with support from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), executed simultaneous operations at 11 sites in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Handwara, Sopore, and Baramulla.
"These operations are part of the agency's ongoing efforts to combat terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers," sources disclosed.
No arrests have been reported thus far, and a comprehensive statement will be released once the raids are completed, added the sources.
Previously, on May 11, the SIA conducted raids at 20 locations, including areas in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian.
These operations are part of a critical investigation into a terror conspiracy case, revealing connections between sleeper cells of terrorist organizations and their handlers across the border.
"The individuals under investigation today are believed to have disseminated sensitive details regarding security forces and vital infrastructure through encrypted platforms such as Telegram, WhatsApp, and Signal," the sources stated.
The raids are being conducted in the presence of executive magistrates and are part of a sustained initiative to dismantle active terror networks in the area.
Officials suspect that the targeted individuals maintained close ties with terrorists based in Pakistan, aiding their operations in the Valley.
The operation is ongoing, with security personnel meticulously searching for evidence and suspects.
Authorities emphasize that such decisive actions are critical to eradicate terrorism and restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The SIA has previously investigated significant terror incidents, including the 2020 murder of advocate Babar Qadri.
The agency pursued the case, apprehended former bar association president Mian Qayoom, and filed a charge sheet against him and others, including Shahid Shafi Mir of Kolipora in Khanyar, Zahid Farooq Khan of Shampora in Nowhatta, Mohammad Asif Bhat of Jogiwan in Amdakadal, Lal Bazar, Munir Aziz War alias Qari Munir of Hatmullah in Kupwara, and Towseef Ahmad Shah of Parimpora.
