Bengaluru, Aug 11 (NationPress) Karnataka Congress spokesperson and senior leader Ramesh Babu has confirmed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accepted the resignation of Minister for Cooperation K.N. Rajanna.
While addressing the media at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, Ramesh Babu stated, “Following the directives of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Minister Rajanna has submitted his resignation, which has now been accepted. We are awaiting clarification on the reasons behind his resignation.”
“At this point, the reason remains unclear. It will require confirmation from either the All India Congress Committee (AICC) or the Chief Minister. As of now, we lack an official statement from the AICC or the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) regarding the reasons for his resignation. We are currently in a waiting phase,” he added.
“Once we receive details from the AICC or the PCC, we will be able to disclose more information. It is indeed a fact that he has resigned and that the Chief Minister has accepted it,” Ramesh Babu affirmed.
Previously, the Congress party had opted to request Rajanna's resignation, a close ally of Siddaramaiah, due to his comments concerning alleged voter “fraud.”
The party's leadership instructed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to secure Minister Rajanna’s resignation on the same day.
In light of the controversy, Minister Rajanna had a meeting with CM Siddaramaiah at his office in Vidhana Soudha.
Earlier, Congress leaders filed a complaint with Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala regarding Rajanna’s statements about election fraud.
Sources indicated that the high command was dissatisfied with any explanations provided by Siddaramaiah and expressed frustration over Rajanna’s remarks related to the alleged election fraud issue highlighted by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
Rajanna’s assertion that the alleged election fraud occurred during Congress governance in Karnataka and should have been addressed earlier has provoked discontent among the party’s national leadership.
The high command has instructed Siddaramaiah to accept Rajanna’s resignation and submit it to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s office without delay.
