Bengaluru, Aug 12 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP criticized Congress figure Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, questioning his dedication to the Scheduled community following the reported resignation request of state Minister K.N. Rajanna from the cabinet.
Minister Rajanna, who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe community, allegedly faced resignation demands after commenting that if there was "voter fraud" in Karnataka, the Congress party should have raised concerns earlier.
This statement reportedly displeased Congress leaders, leading to his suggested resignation.
The BJP has also indicated it will seek a statement from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in both the Legislative Assembly and the Council regarding Rajanna's reported "removal".
BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra remarked to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, "What led to K.N. Rajanna, a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, being dismissed from the cabinet? The public is questioning this. What was Rajanna's offense that led to his ousting? This matter transcends the Congress party's internal affairs and should be addressed in the session."
He further stated, "The rationale behind his dismissal should be disclosed. Does this reflect Rahul Gandhi's commitment to the Scheduled Castes? Last week, he was in Bengaluru making serious allegations against the Election Commission, asserting that the BJP rose to power through misconduct," he said.
Vijayendra continued, "While Rahul Gandhi refrains from filing a complaint with the Election Commission, former minister Rajanna was removed for speaking the truth, which is unjust. We will demand answers from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding what led to Rajanna's resignation in both Houses."
"This isn't merely an internal issue within the Congress party. The truth must be unveiled during the ongoing session, and it is the Chief Minister's responsibility to disclose this decision to the House. Therefore, we are bringing this issue to attention in both Houses," he added.
He questioned, "Does Rahul Gandhi, who carries a copy of the Constitution and travels nationwide, lack the courage to confront the truth?"
“The state’s populace is questioning Congress leaders who deliver lengthy speeches about Ambedkar. Is it justifiable to take such adverse action against Rajanna?" he concluded.
