Jaipur, Oct 30 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India has initiated the Special Summary Revision Program (SIR-2026) aimed at enhancing and rectifying voter lists throughout Rajasthan.
This initiative is designed to promote accuracy, inclusiveness, and timely updates of the electoral rolls in anticipation of forthcoming elections.
As per the Commission's timeline, the printing and training phases will be conducted from October 28 to November 3, followed by a door-to-door distribution of voter enumeration forms and a revision of polling stations from November 4 to December 4.
The draft voter list is set to be unveiled on December 9, with a claims and objections period running from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026. All claims and objections will be addressed by January 31, with the final voter list being published on February 7, 2026.
According to Meghraj Meena, the Deputy District Election Officer for Jaipur, the district encompasses 17 Assembly constituencies, employing 17 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 83 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in the revision undertaking. Currently, there are 5,046 polling stations in the district, including 744 newly established locations.
At present, Jaipur district has 4,823,379 registered voters, comprising 2,319,714 women and 101 individuals identifying as third-gender.
Meena stated that January 1, 2026, is designated as the eligibility date for voter registration under SIR-2026. Any Indian citizen who turns 18 on this date and is not registered elsewhere is welcome to enroll. Each Booth Level Officer (BLO) will undertake door-to-door checks to verify voter eligibility.
Residents are encouraged to verify their details through the official Election Commission website at https://voters.eci.gov.in or reach out to their respective BLOs.
Meena also mentioned that during the form submission, applicants can view their previous voter records online. In cases where voter forms are not returned due to absence, transfer, death, or duplication, the BLO will verify and amend the records.
Information regarding voters missing from the draft list will be publicly displayed on notice boards at the Panchayat Samiti, Municipal Corporation, BDO office, or Panchayat office. He emphasized that no documents will be collected directly from voters during enumeration, and citizens should assist BLOs by confirming their information.
The Election Commission has recognized 13 documents as valid proof for verification, including a birth certificate, passport, secondary certificate, domicile certificate, caste certificate, family register, LIC or bank documents, and Aadhaar card (note: Aadhaar is not considered valid as proof of citizenship).
The Deputy District Election Officer urged all citizens to take part in the voter list verification process, stating, “The strength of democracy lies in ensuring that every eligible citizen’s name is included in the electoral roll. Timely verification and correction will help uphold the integrity of free and fair elections.”
