Can PM Modi Take Inspiration from the Venezuela Situation to Liberate PoJK?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jammu, Jan 6 (NationPress) The association of families displaced from Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) has urgently called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action for the region's liberation, referencing the recent U.S. intervention in Venezuela.
Rajiv Chuni, the Chairman of this organization, urged PM Modi to implement decisive military measures for the liberation of PoJK, drawing parallels with the recent U.S. actions in Venezuela against narco-terrorism.
This association, which represents countless families displaced since 1947, conveyed an urgent message to PM Modi requesting military intervention to free the region, dismantle terrorist infrastructure, eliminate drug trafficking networks, and uphold India's long-standing parliamentary commitment.
The letter, dated January 5, 2026, highlights the severe injustices faced under Pakistan's illegal occupation. “For over 78 years, PoJK has been under Pakistan's unlawful control, violating international norms and India’s sovereign rights,” it states.
“Pakistan has exploited the region’s natural resources while neglecting the local populace, leading to grave human rights violations, suppression of democratic freedoms, and economic hardships.”
“Moreover, PoJK has transformed into a center for terrorist training camps and launch pads for attacks against India, alongside drug trafficking routes that jeopardize the safety of India's youth,” the letter added.
The indigenous population of PoJK has faced immense suffering, including the 1947 genocide targeting Hindus, Sikhs, and other minorities, resulting in mass killings, displacements, and forced conversions that have decimated entire communities.
Properties remain seized without compensation, with dams like Mangla built on ancestral lands without consent, flooding homes and agricultural lands.
Despite these atrocities, displaced individuals long to return and live peacefully as citizens of India. The letter references the Indian Parliament's unanimous resolution from February 22, 1994, affirming Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India and demanding Pakistan’s withdrawal from occupied territories.
A recent precedent highlighted is the decisive U.S. military operations against Venezuela in early 2026, including Operation Southern Spear and Operation Absolute Resolve.
Under President Donald Trump, U.S. forces executed airstrikes on drug trafficking infrastructure and conducted a large-scale operation in Caracas, capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his associates on charges of narco-terrorism.
The letter asserts: “India has even stronger reasons to take action: restoring territorial integrity as per parliamentary resolution, eradicating terrorism by dismantling training camps, addressing drug networks exacerbated by cross-border terrorism, and resolving humanitarian crises involving human rights abuses and resource exploitation.”
“Just as the U.S. acted to protect its national security by targeting drug traffickers and related infrastructure, India has superior moral, legal, and security reasons to liberate PoJK, eliminate terrorist camps, dismantle drug networks, and reintegrate the region with the motherland,” the letter concluded.
“We have endured 78 years of injustice and eagerly await our return to our homeland as Indian citizens,” stated Chairman Rajiv Chuni.
“Under Prime Minister Modi's visionary leadership, this is a crucial time for bold actions to achieve justice and fulfill national commitments,” the letter expressed.
The organization is hopeful that the Indian government will respond favorably to this long-standing injustice and undertake necessary military actions to address it.
