Jammu, Nov 21 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Manoj Sinha, has declared that the NGO Human Resource Development Society (HRDS) will construct 133 houses for families in Poonch district impacted by the recent Pakistani shelling amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan. During his visit to Poonch on Friday, the LG announced that these houses will be built at a cost of Rs. 1 million each, with plans to complete the project within a six-month timeframe.
The initiative aims to provide urgent rehabilitation to families devastated by the shelling, ensuring they receive necessary support and secure living environments.
LG Sinha emphasized that comprehensive actions have been taken to extend every form of aid to these affected families. He reiterated the administration’s dedication to finishing the reconstruction work within the promised timeline.
During the visit, Manoj Sinha was accompanied by senior officials, including the chief of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Nalin Prabhat, and the IGP Kashmir, along with other high-ranking officers.
The officials also distributed relief to civilians who faced losses during 'Operation Sindoor' and assured them that the damaged homes would be reconstructed without delay.
In addition to assessing rehabilitation efforts, the LG conducted a thorough evaluation of the overall security situation in Poonch.
His visit underscores the government’s focus on both relief mechanisms and the maintenance of stability in the region. This announcement has instilled hope among the affected families, who have been promised prompt assistance and support for reconstruction.
It is important to note that during 'Operation Sindoor', the Indian forces dismantled nine terrorist infrastructures in areas such as Muridke, near Lahore, and Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK), leading to Pakistani retaliatory strikes on civilian facilities in J&K.
Heavy shelling by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch resulted in casualties among civilians, including a senior civil servant.
Additionally, the Pakistani shelling led to the destruction of many civilian homes, a temple, a mosque, a Christian school, and a gurdwara in Poonch district.
Following the escalation from Pakistan, the Indian armed forces targeted Pakistani defense installations, damaging 14 military bases deep within Pakistan.
