Six Athletes from Gurugram Shine at Malaysia Karate Championship

Gurugram, Dec 4 (NationPress) The National Karate Federation honored six athletes from Sai Karate Academy in Gurugram for their remarkable performance at the International Karate Competition held at Stadium Titivangsa in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The talented athletes secured four medals, including one gold and one silver, bringing pride to Gurugram.

During the ceremony, the President of the national federation, Hansi Bharat Sharma, remarked, "Compete with consistency and dedication while aiming high."

He further noted, "The youth are increasingly focusing on their sports careers. This growing awareness has led to our country achieving victories across various competitions."

Approximately 2,500 athletes from 20 countries participated in this event, which took place from November 29 to December 1, 2024. Among them, six athletes from Gurugram represented their state and won one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals, according to Sunil Saini, the Coach of Sai Karate Academy.

In a statement regarding the successful event, Shihan Sunil Saini, General Secretary of the Sports Karate Association India, praised the athletes for their exceptional performances, which brought honor to Gurugram.

He expressed confidence that the team will continue to excel and bring pride to Gurugram in future competitions. Preparations are already underway for an upcoming championship in England, he added.

Despite intense competition, Indian athletes showcased remarkable skill and determination. Young talents Aditya Dahiya and Kavya Bhardwaj secured bronze medals in the sub-junior category Kumut event, while seasoned athlete Geeta Godara earned a silver medal in the veteran category Kata event along with a bronze in the veteran category Kumut event.

Shalu Hari claimed gold in the veteran category Kata, and Rinki Goyal won a bronze medal in the same category.

"Ansha Godara is an exceptional player on the team. We are optimistic that she will represent India successfully in future competitions," he added.

This significant achievement underscores the rising prowess of Indian Karate and reflects the commitment of these gifted athletes," Saini emphasized.
