Giridih, Feb 19 (NationPress) A devastating road accident claimed the lives of at least six individuals in the Madhuban police station area of Jharkhand's Giridih district late on Tuesday night, as reported by police officials on Wednesday.
The unfortunate event involved a head-on collision between a Scorpio and a motorcycle on the Giridih-Dumri road.
The crash went unnoticed until early Wednesday morning when local residents stumbled upon the wrecked vehicles and alerted the authorities.
Upon arrival, police officials discovered the deceased bodies of four individuals from the Scorpio and two riders from the motorcycle. The severity of the collision resulted in both vehicles suffering extensive damage.
Authorities have confirmed the identities of five of the six victims: Hussaini Mian, a local from Dhawatand under Madhuban police station; Bablu Kumar Tudu from Chhachhendo village; Somesh Chandra and Gopal Kumar, both hailing from Dariapur in Munger district, Bihar; and Gulab Kumar, a resident of Isri Bazar, Giridih.
The identity of the sixth victim remains unidentified.
Preliminary investigations indicate that both vehicles were traveling at considerable speeds when they collided. The Scorpio was headed towards Dumri, while the motorcycle was making its way to Giridih from Parasnath railway station.
The accident took place on a stretch of road that experiences relatively low traffic at night, leading to a delay in the discovery of the scene and the provision of aid to the victims.
