Jadeja.
For the eighth consecutive year, Gujarat Technological University (GTU), in partnership with ISRO’s Space Applications Centre (SAC-ISRO), proudly hosted the national-level finale, further solidifying its dedication to innovation, technology, and nation-building.
The Smart India Hackathon, recognized as the largest open innovation platform globally, seeks to enhance practical learning, problem-solving skills, design thinking, and the application of modern technologies among students throughout India.
The event kicked off with a heartfelt welcome from Dr K. N. Kher, Registrar of GTU, who emphasized the university’s remarkable feat of hosting the SIH finale for eight straight years.
Dignitaries were honored for their significant contributions to education and innovation. Dr Nilesh M. Desai, Director of SAC–ISRO, delivered an inspiring speech discussing India’s swift progress in quantum computing, satellite technology, and emerging deep-tech sectors. He encouraged students to pursue research and skills relevant to the industry, highlighting the pivotal role of institutions like GTU in shaping India’s technological landscape.
Padma Shri Dr Ganpatbhai Patel, President and Patron-in-Chief of Ganpat University, highlighted the profound connections between business, technology, and nation-building.
He commended the students for their innovative problem-solving abilities and forward-thinking mindset. GTU Vice Chancellor Dr Rajul K. Gajjar, in her keynote address, elaborated on the university’s initiatives aligned with NEP 2020, aimed at fortifying the startup ecosystem, fostering interdisciplinary innovation, and inspiring students to transcend conventional academic limits.
As the chief guest, Minister Rivaba R. Jadeja delivered an empowering address focusing on women’s entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and the scientific legacy of Dr Vikram Sarabhai. She stated, “India’s future lies not in government buildings but in our laboratories, research centres, and the innovative minds of our youth.”
She also emphasized the importance of enhancing skill-based learning, research orientation, technology adoption, and fostering a startup culture in education.
The ceremony wrapped up with the announcement of the winners from the SIH 2025 GTU Nodal Centre, presented by Chandraprakash, Project Director, SAC–ISRO.
