New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva emphasized the profound historical and cultural importance of the Somnath Swabhiman Parv on Saturday, noting that this year-long nationwide celebration represents the resilience and strength of India's religious and civilizational legacy.

He referred to the Somnath Temple as a living embodiment of India's steadfast faith, asserting that the festivities echo the nation's collective pride and spiritual awareness.

In a conversation with IANS, Sachdeva remarked, “The Somnath Swabhiman Parv will be observed throughout the country for a year. Our national executive president initiated the event by offering prayers to Lord Shiva and subsequently visiting Lord Hanuman. The Somnath Temple faced brutal attacks by foreign invaders in 1026, and despite numerous invasions, the strength of our religious and cultural heritage has remained unyielding. Today, the temple is recognized as one of the most famous in the world.”

He further stated that Somnath continues to motivate generations with its message of resilience, devotion, and national pride.

Beginning on January 8 and continuing until January 11, 2026, the Somnath Swabhiman Parv commemorates 1,000 years since the initial attack on the temple by Mahmud of Ghazni.

This four-day grand celebration honors the repeated destruction and restoration of the temple over centuries, symbolizing India's unwavering faith, cultural pride, and civilizational continuity. It also marks the 75th anniversary of the temple's historic reconstruction in 1951, led by India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in significant events of the Swabhiman Parv on Saturday.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister characterized the Somnath Swabhiman Parv as a powerful emblem of India's spiritual tradition, highlighting its nationwide celebration filled with immense devotion and enthusiasm.

He announced his arrival in Somnath on the evening of January 10, where he will partake in the divine chanting of the Omkar mantra at around 8 p.m. at the temple, followed by an impressive drone show over the Arabian Sea.

On January 11, PM Modi will lead the Shaurya Yatra at approximately 9:45 a.m., a ceremonial procession honoring the brave sons and daughters of the nation who sacrificed their lives defending the sacred shrine throughout centuries of invasions.

The procession will feature a symbolic one-kilometer roadshow with 108 traditionally dressed horsemen, representing valor and eternal sacrifice. Afterward, the Prime Minister will offer darshan and pooja at the revered Jyotirlinga and subsequently address a public gathering.

The festival will also include 72 hours of continuous Omkar chanting, spiritual music evenings, and cultural programs that celebrate national pride, faith, and heritage, making the Somnath Swabhiman Parv a profound tribute to India's lasting spiritual legacy.
