Could Sonam and Raj Kushwaha Be Involved in Raja Raghuvanshi's Murder?

Indore, June 9 (NationPress) The family of Raja Raghuvanshi has voiced their shock and mounting suspicions regarding the potential involvement of his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, alongside her purported lover, Raj Kushwaha, in his murder that occurred during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.

Sonam was taken into custody early Monday morning in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh after voluntarily surrendering at the Nandganj police station.

Authorities confirmed her arrest for allegedly plotting her husband's murder by hiring contract killers during their trip.

Reports suggest that Sonam was engaged in an extramarital affair with Raj Kushwaha, who is currently being investigated for his suspected role as an accomplice. Notably, Kushwaha was a former colleague of Sonam's.

Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of the deceased, shared with IANS, "We are all taken aback by this revelation, as we had never anticipated such news. Until now, we were searching for Sonam, but now she has been identified as a conspirator."

"I recognized the name Raj Kushwaha, as he was associated with Sonam's workplace. Both he and Sonam could be involved, but we prefer to wait for a thorough investigation," he added.

Bhuma Raghuvanshi, Raja's sister-in-law, expressed her disbelief, stating, "Hearing Sonam's name involved is shocking. We demand a full investigation into her actions. If she is guilty, we want to know why. They married willingly and seemed happy; what could have led to this?"

In addition to Sonam, the police apprehended her alleged partner, Raj Singh Kushwaha, as well as Vishal Singh Chauhan from Indore, Aakash Rajput from Lalitpur, and Anand from Bina in Sagar district.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities pursue additional leads.

Vipul Raghuvanshi, another brother of Raja, noted that the couple had originally intended to visit the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati for blessings but unexpectedly altered their plans to go to Shillong.

He mentioned that all travel arrangements were made by Sonam, and her family was unaware of this sudden change in plans.

According to family sources, Sonam departed for the airport from her paternal home adorned in her wedding jewelry.

Raja was also seen carrying valuable ornaments, including a diamond ring, chain, and bracelet worth over Rs 10 lakh.

Concerns were raised when Sonam's mother-in-law questioned the necessity of carrying such expensive jewelry on a honeymoon.

This unexpected trip to Shillong heightened familial suspicions, especially since it was not Sonam's first visit to the city.

Her mother had previously mentioned her past visits to her in-laws, further intensifying the doubts.

Moreover, investigators discovered significant financial transactions associated with Sonam, hinting at a possible financial motive behind the crime.

Meanwhile, the involvement of the extramarital affair continues to be a focal point of the investigation.

Sources indicate that Sonam had been involved with Raj Kushwaha prior to her marriage to Raja, and investigators believe he played a significant role in orchestrating the murder.

The body of Raja Raghuvanshi was discovered in a deep gorge beneath the Weisawdong Parking Lot in Meghalaya, with a machete—suspected to be the murder weapon—found nearby.
