Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Dec 25 (NationPress) The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu has declared that special voter enrollment camps will take place for four consecutive days throughout the state to assist eligible citizens in adding their names to the electoral rolls.
In an official statement, Tamil Nadu's Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik mentioned that this initiative is being carried out pursuant to the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI) as a component of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
The draft electoral rolls were released on the 19th of this month. Following this publication, the window for submitting claims and objections will remain open until January 1, 2026. During this period, qualified citizens are encouraged to submit applications for new name entries, amendments to current entries, deletions of ineligible names, or updates to personal information in the voter list.
To facilitate the enrollment process, special camps will be set up at all polling stations across Tamil Nadu on the following dates: January 27 (Saturday), January 28 (Sunday), February 3 (Saturday), and February 4 (Sunday).
During these days, Booth Level Officers and election officials will be available at polling stations to assist applicants and collect completed forms. Citizens whose names are not listed in the draft voter list, as well as those who have recently turned 18 and are eligible to vote, can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with a self-declaration affidavit. This provision is designed to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to register easily.
Additionally, any voter whose name is already on the electoral roll for an Assembly constituency can challenge an inclusion or request the deletion of an existing entry by submitting Form 7. This process is essential for maintaining the credibility and accuracy of the electoral rolls.
Voters who have changed their residence within the same Assembly constituency, or those desiring to amend details such as name, age, address, or other particulars, can submit applications using Form 8.
This same form can also be utilized to request corrections in the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
The Chief Electoral Officer has urged all eligible citizens to take full advantage of the special camps and ensure that their details are accurately represented in the voter list, emphasizing that a comprehensive and error-free electoral roll is crucial for free and fair elections in the state.
