Jammu, March 24 (NationPress) Recently, an exceptional event took place in Srinagar aimed at obtaining worldwide acclaim for Jammu and Kashmir's high-quality agro and food products, while also establishing marketing avenues for local produce.
As part of the 'Jammu and Kashmir Agro and Food Fest: Buyer-Seller Meet 2026,' local farmers, entrepreneurs, and international buyers gathered on a unified platform—this initiative is designed to facilitate access to Kashmiri products like saffron, honey, and dry fruits in global markets.
The event was hosted at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, under the auspices of the Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture and Food Festival.
Nearly 50 international buyers from over 16 countries participated, showcasing Kashmir's prized saffron, honey, walnuts, and other dry fruits, along with fresh agricultural offerings.
These products highlighted the Union Territory’s substantial export potential, which is expected to significantly enhance the region's economy.
A key goal of the event was to educate local producers about international standards and certification processes. While buyers praised the quality of Kashmiri products, they emphasized the need for improved documentation and certification to compete effectively on the global stage.
Buyers from Malaysia, Japan, the UAE, and Europe expressed keen interest in Kashmiri goods, motivating others to explore future export opportunities in the region.
The event also served as a significant platform for local entrepreneurs and startups. Participants were visibly excited about the chance to showcase their products to an international audience for the very first time.

The festival is proving to be a crucial milestone for the farmers and entrepreneurs of Jammu and Kashmir, linking them with the international market while paving a new path for regional development.
Sachin Kumar from the Trade Promotion Council of India stated, “This initiative will greatly benefit the local community. The aim is to promote local food products, allowing them to reach other countries. Attendees from various nations have shown great appreciation for the displayed products.”

"We are here to share information about our products and engage with people directly," he remarked.
