Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 14 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, assured on Saturday that domestic consumers need not be concerned about any potential shortage of cooking gas following the Central government's announcement to suspend supplies for commercial use.
He reiterated that the distribution of household LPG is proceeding without interruptions across the nation.
In an interview with IANS, Kadam mentioned that the government has instructed oil companies to cease gas deliveries for all commercial applications nationwide due to prevailing global challenges.
However, he assured the public that there are sufficient stocks available for domestic use, with no interruptions anticipated.
"We have ample reserves of gas, and there is no reason for anyone to panic. The domestic supply will continue seamlessly," he stated.
The Minister encouraged responsible usage of cooking gas and to minimize wastage.
He attributed the ongoing conflict in the Middle East as a reason for caution, underscoring the importance of conservation during this time of international unrest.
Despite the conflict affecting energy routes for several nations, Minister Kadam highlighted India's stable supply chains, which are bolstered by strong diplomatic ties maintained by the Union government.
Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy, the Minister noted that India's global standing has significantly improved under PM Modi's leadership.
He acknowledged the Prime Minister for establishing strong relationships with countries worldwide, including Iran, ensuring continuous gas deliveries even amidst the crisis.
"PM Modi has enhanced India's reputation on the global stage and forged strong diplomatic connections universally. This is why, despite the ongoing war, our amicable relations with Iran have sustained our supplies. Just yesterday, a large oil tanker arrived in India," he remarked.
Minister Kadam added that the advantages of these international relationships are directly benefiting the public by ensuring the availability of essential supplies such as domestic LPG.
He described PM Modi's diplomatic approach as unparalleled, asserting that no previous Prime Minister has worked so diligently to enhance India's position on the international front and protect national interests during challenging times.
This clarification follows reports of interruptions in commercial LPG availability, impacting hotels, restaurants, and industries across various regions, including Mumbai.
The Centre has prioritized the needs of households, hospitals, and essential services while promoting alternative solutions for non-domestic consumers.
Minister Kadam's remarks aim to alleviate public concerns and encourage mindful consumption to maintain stability until global circumstances improve.
