Survey teams continue assessments to identify additional eligible beneficiaries.
Scale of Relief Disbursed
On Sunday alone, 3,690 beneficiaries across six talukas received more than ₹83.93 lakh under the state government's relief programme. By 5 pm, authorities had distributed over ₹22.13 lakh in immediate cash doles to 2,459 families.
Separately, 1,231 beneficiaries received ₹61.80 lakh in compensation for damaged household goods and belongings, bringing the day's combined payout to a significant portion of the ongoing relief drive.
Taluka-Wise Breakdown
Udhna, identified as one of the worst-affected areas, accounted for the largest share of cash dole payments — more than ₹11.61 lakh to 1,290 beneficiaries. Under the household loss component, 645 families in Udhna received ₹32.50 lakh.
In Puna, 849 beneficiaries received over ₹7.64 lakh in cash doles, while 426 families were paid ₹21.30 lakh for household losses. Voices from the Ground
Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a resident of Gitanagar in Limbayat, recounted how his family — including his wife and two sons — spent three days on the upper floor of their home as floodwater submerged the ground level. Sharma, who was already recovering from injuries to both legs and his waist sustained roughly six weeks before the floods, said the administration's support had been critical. "Receiving food grains and financial assistance for me and my family during this difficult time has brought great relief," he said.
His family received milk, drinking water, food grains, and ₹6,800 in compensation for household losses.
Another resident of Gitanagar, Jamnaben, whose seven-member household depends on daily wage labour, said floodwater remained inside their home for three consecutive days, destroying food grains, clothing, and household belongings. After a post-flood survey, her family received ration supplies and ₹6,800 in combined cash dole and household loss compensation. "The government's assistance has been a great support. Now we will be able to buy essential household items and restart our normal life," she said.
Administration and Political Response
The relief exercise is being conducted under the supervision of Surat Collector Tejas Parmar, with rapid surveys prioritised so that payments reach eligible residents without delay.
MLA Sangeeta Patil visited Gitanagar and distributed ration kits — each containing 5 kg each of wheat and rice, along with onions and potatoes — alongside financial assistance to affected families. "Under the guidance of the Prime Minister and in accordance with the directions of the Chief Minister, the district administration is working round the clock to assist citizens during this disaster," she said.
What Comes Next
Officials confirmed that damage surveys are still under way in flood-affected localities, and further eligible beneficiaries will receive assistance after verification is complete. The administration has stated that compensation payments are being expedited to help residents restore livelihoods and return to normalcy as quickly as possible.
