Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Farrukhabad (Uttar Pradesh), April 12 (NationPress) Tension and fear enveloped Jyonta village in the Mohammadabad police jurisdiction of Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad district after the lifeless body of a 35-year-old man, visiting his in-laws, was discovered hanging from a mango tree under dubious circumstances on Sunday. The family of the deceased has accused others of murder, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The individual has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, the son of Ram Avtar, hailing from Vikas Nagar on Mainpuri Road, under the Aliganj police station's jurisdiction in Etah district. As per police reports, Sanjay had reached his in-laws' home in Jyonta village on April 11, and his body was found hanging the following morning from a mango tree in the agricultural land belonging to local resident Jogendra Singh.
The grim discovery was made by villagers who were out early that morning and notified the family of his in-laws. Sanjay’s father-in-law, Naresh Chandra, promptly contacted the police by calling 112.
Responding to the report, Station House Officer Vinod Kumar Shukla and his team arrived at the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation. The Dial 112 team also gathered initial information regarding the incident.
Making serious allegations, Sanjay’s father, Ram Avtar, asserted that his son was murdered and that his body was subsequently hung to create the illusion of suicide. He pointed out that Sanjay had returned from Delhi just three days prior and had visited his in-laws the day before the incident occurred.
Contrarily, Sanjay’s wife, Moni, provided a different perspective, revealing that the couple had been experiencing marital issues. She disclosed that Sanjay had made threats against her in the past, including threats of self-harm and intimidation involving petrol. Furthermore, she indicated that disputes had arisen over alleged extramarital affairs Sanjay engaged in while in Delhi, which had led to earlier calls to Dial 112.
Sanjay Kumar was the eldest of five siblings and wed to Moni in 2009, with the pair having two children—a son and a daughter. His unforeseen death has plunged his family into profound grief, with his mother Surajmukhi and other relatives left devastated.
A forensic team was dispatched to the location to gather vital evidence. Sub-Inspector Arvind Awasthi oversaw the inquest and ensured the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Police officials mentioned that further actions would depend on the findings from the post-mortem report and the ongoing investigation.
