New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) The Ministry of Labour and Employment has forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swiggy, one of the top food delivery services in India, as part of a larger initiative aimed at enhancing employment prospects through collaborations between the public and private sectors.

Swiggy, which operates in over 500 cities, has played a crucial role in creating jobs across multiple industries. With almost 5 crore job listings on its platform, this partnership is anticipated to improve access to skilled labor for employers and job seekers alike. The MoU is part of a series of agreements the Ministry is establishing with private organizations to address the imbalance between labor demand and supply.

Union Labour and Environment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating: "The National Career Service (NCS) portal is evolving into a centralized platform for job seekers. It currently has data on over 31 crore individuals registered on the Shram portal. This integration will empower employers to efficiently search for specific talent, such as 50 civil engineers within a 50-km radius of Noida, without needing to advertise externally."

Mandaviya highlighted that the NCS portal will optimize the hiring process and serve as a holistic platform for both skill enhancement and job opportunities.

"Employers can utilize the NCS portal, specify their manpower needs, and quickly locate qualified candidates. This will transform the job matching landscape in India," he noted.

He also expressed confidence in the potential outcomes, indicating that Swiggy alone is projected to generate 10 to 12 lakh new job opportunities within the next two to three years.

"Numerous other organizations are set to initiate similar MoUs. I am optimistic that the NCS portal will emerge as the leading platform, not just in India but globally, aiding employers in meeting their workforce requirements while providing dignified employment to millions," Mandaviya added.

Salbh Srivastava, Operations In-Charge at Swiggy, expressed: “Today, I feel privileged to be part of this collaboration with the NCS. Swiggy has generated lakhs of jobs over the past decade, and through this partnership, we will be able to connect with more skilled individuals. The NCS will definitely assist us in scaling our hiring efforts and boosting employment generation across the country.”

Srivastava confirmed that Swiggy aims to integrate more skilled workers via the NCS platform, with a forecast of 10 to 12 lakh new jobs anticipated over the coming years.

“We are thrilled about the opportunities this partnership will unveil and express our gratitude to everyone involved for facilitating this initiative,” he concluded.

This collaboration signifies a pivotal move towards merging technology with employment services, striving to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and inclusivity of India’s labor ecosystem.
