Bengaluru, Sep 18 (NationPress) A young girl has reported in her complaint against a yoga instructor that he sexually assaulted her during a yoga competition in Thailand back in 2023, according to police reports.
The accused, hailing from Assam, serves as the Secretary of the Karnataka Yogasana Sports Association (KYSA).
According to the police report, "The victim had been acquainted with the accused since 2019. She began her journey in yoga competitions in 2021. When she was 17, she traveled to Thailand with the accused to take part in a competition where he sexually harassed her. Following this traumatic event, she ceased her participation in yoga competitions."
"In 2024, the victim enrolled in a yoga institute located in Bengaluru, which the accused managed. Since then, he has continued to sexually harass her. He had also claimed he would assist her in winning a medal at a national yoga competition and secure job placement for her. Unfortunately, he then proceeded to sexually exploit her within the institute's premises in August 2025," the complaint states.
The accused allegedly attempted to engage in physical intimacy with her on August 22, asserting that he would facilitate her placement in a state-level competition.
The police have filed an FIR under pertinent sections of the BNS Act and Section 12 of the POCSO Act.
The victim lodged her police complaint on August 30.
Further inquiries revealed that the yoga instructor was implicated in the rape of between 10 to 15 women who attended classes at his yoga center.
Authorities have confiscated his mobile phone and are calling on other victims to step forward and file complaints.
A video linked to the crime has also been recovered, suggesting that more women may come forward against him, as per police sources.
Ongoing investigations are in progress.
