The police have apprehended the accused, identified as Ravi Teja Reddy, a 35-year-old PG operator.
According to police, Reddy assaulted the 21-year-old woman after she confessed to stealing three gold rings from another resident.
Following the victim's report, Ravi Teja Reddy has been charged with rape and is currently in police custody.
The victim, a nursing graduate from Andhra Pradesh, had only been at the PG for a week before the incident occurred, as she was searching for employment, according to police reports.
On November 14, 2023, Karnataka police arrested a lecturer for sexually assaulting a student under the pretext of securing her a part-time job in Bengaluru.
The lecturer, identified as Madam Kumar, teaches at a private college in the Yelahanka area of Bengaluru.
The accused lured the student to a hotel on MG Road, claiming to assist her with job placement.
Trusting the accused, the victim sought help, only to be taken advantage of; the accused sexually assaulted her and recorded the incident to use as leverage.
Unable to endure the harassment any longer, the victim reported the matter to the Gangammanagudi police station.
Following her report, law enforcement arrested the assailant.
