Bengaluru, Sep 10 (NationPress) A deeply disturbing incident involving a Class 10 student has surfaced in the Bannerghatta police jurisdiction in Karnataka's Bengaluru, according to law enforcement officials. The incident occurred on a Wednesday inside a hostel room at a private educational institution located on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

As per the police report, the victim was subjected to assault by senior students currently enrolled in the second year of the Pre-University Course (Class 12).

The victim had recently joined the school.

A formal complaint detailing the assault and ragging was filed with both the hostel warden and the principal of the school.

The victim's family has claimed that following their report of ragging, the senior students began to specifically target their child.

They mentioned that they sought police intervention after the school authorities failed to act.

The victim's family reported that the assaults occurred repeatedly over a span of four days, from September 3 to 6, in the hostel room.

In addition to the sexual assault, the victim was also struck with an iron hanger.

The assailants forced the victim to undress and perform a dance, police disclosed.

Legal actions have been initiated against five students, along with the school principal and hostel warden.

The father of the victim has lodged the complaint, and the Bannerghatta police are actively investigating the matter.

Earlier, on June 25, another alarming incident was reported in Bengaluru where a nursing student was allegedly raped by the owner of a paying guest (PG) accommodation after she confessed to a theft.

The police have apprehended the accused, identified as Ravi Teja Reddy, a 35-year-old PG operator.

According to police, Reddy assaulted the 21-year-old woman after she confessed to stealing three gold rings from another resident.

Following the victim's report, Ravi Teja Reddy has been charged with rape and is currently in police custody.

The victim, a nursing graduate from Andhra Pradesh, had only been at the PG for a week before the incident occurred, as she was searching for employment, according to police reports.

On November 14, 2023, Karnataka police arrested a lecturer for sexually assaulting a student under the pretext of securing her a part-time job in Bengaluru.

The lecturer, identified as Madam Kumar, teaches at a private college in the Yelahanka area of Bengaluru.

The accused lured the student to a hotel on MG Road, claiming to assist her with job placement.

Trusting the accused, the victim sought help, only to be taken advantage of; the accused sexually assaulted her and recorded the incident to use as leverage.

Unable to endure the harassment any longer, the victim reported the matter to the Gangammanagudi police station.

Following her report, law enforcement arrested the assailant.
