The incident occurred on a Wednesday inside a hostel room at a private educational institution located on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
As per the police report, the victim was subjected to assault by senior students currently enrolled in the second year of the Pre-University Course (Class 12).
The victim had recently joined the school.
A formal complaint detailing the assault and ragging was filed with both the hostel warden and the principal of the school.
The victim's family has claimed that following their report of ragging, the senior students began to specifically target their child.
